Using 1Password
Saving information:
- If you want to add existing login credentials to your private vault on 1Password, make sure you have navigated to your private vault.
- Click the plus sign at the top and choose the login option
- Fill in the user credentials of your account.
Note: You can save credit card information in 1Password but it is not recommended.
Editing saved information:
To edit an existing login such as username, password, and website, click on the edit for the account you want to edit.
- By clicking on the cogwheel next to the password, you can generate a new and stronger password than the existing one. If you do this, make sure to update your password on the accounts with the one generated.
Warning: Don’t click the cogwheel again as it resets the password, which is really annoying.
- You can configure the password generator to suit the password requirements of certain websites like in the image below. Once you click Edit, click the cogwheel to update a password after which you can choose the desired length, number of digits, symbols, and letters. Then, click the re-generate password button.
Sidebar information:
The sidebar to the left has some handy features, they are:
- All vaults: Displays all the vaults in your account.
- All items: Lists all the items, irrespective of the vaults they belong to.
- Favourites: Frequently used items that you have set as favourites. You can do so by clicking the star icon on the top right of a login or an item.
- Watchtower: The watchtower helps view information on compromised logins, vulnerable passwords, reused and weak passwords, unsecured websites, inactive 2FA, and any item that is on the verge of expiring.
